Dans des conditions compliquées, avec notamment un terrain difficile, les seniors 2 ont manqué l’occasion de frapper un grand coup dans cette poule B de Promotion 1ère Division. Peu de matchs se jouant, une 5ème victoire en 6 matchs aurait pu créer un écart conséquent sur les poursuivants.
L’entame, dans ces conditions, est plutôt bonne, avec une défense solide (une constante durant tout le match), un gardien brillant (un arrêt hors normes) et surtout un jeu certes restrictif mais simple, efficace et porté vers l’avant. Julien Plénacoste parviendra à concrétiser cette domination d’une belle frappe croisée. Les muretains n’existent que par quelques coups de pied arrêtés mais n’arrivent pas à se montrer dangereux dans le jeu.
Malheureusement, les hommes de Jean-Mi Bombail ne parviennent pas à maintenir cette domination malgré une ou deux balles de breaks et ce qui devait arriver arrive à 10 minutes de la fin sur une frappe consécutive à un corner repoussé par la défense. Xavier Gonzalez puis Fabien Assemat auront l’occasion de donner la victoire aux lauragais dans les dernières secondes, en vain.
L’équipe peut nourrir quelques regrets mais cela ne remet pas en cause le bon début de saison et la série d’invincibilité continue !
